Why is an Ethane Detection Detector Needed?
Natural gas is a compound gas consisting of many different hydrocarbon gases. Ethane gas is present in natural gas supplied to towns and cities. However, ethane gas is not formed in swamp/soil gas or landfill sites. This helps differentiate between reticulated natural gas and landfill gas. This information is vital for safety. At the same time, it provides confirmation on the presence of leaks, preventing misdirection.
Accurate Analysis and Precise Measurement with El-5
El-5 is an advanced ethane gas detection instrument combining semiconductor and chromatographic analysis technologies. If there is at least 2% ethane gas present within the sample, it is detected by the instrument. Minimum measurable concentration is 16 ppm. The instrument determines the presence of ethane (C2H6) gas within natural gas in a maximum of 2 minutes. The instrument features an integrated self-priming pump and requires no dedicated carrier gas.
Portable Design: Lightweight and Compact
The El-5 instrument weighs only 600 grams and can be carried with ease by operators. The instrument is engineered to operate on alkaline batteries without connection to a mains power source. It thereby provides field convenience without requiring long and costly laboratory analytical procedures.
Advanced Analysis and Reporting
The El-5 instrument logs data once per second and has a total storage capacity of 64,000 data points. It features PC software that allows measurement data to be transferred to a PC environment and displayed in tabular-graphical format.
