Highly Advanced and Award-Winning Vehicle-Mounted Optical Natural Gas Leak Detection Detector (Optical Methane Detector)

Product Specifications
  • Custom Engineered Design and High Sensitivity!
The Optical Methane Detector (OMD™) is specifically engineered for mobile surveying of underground natural gas distribution systems. This field-proven, superior technology combines sensitivity, selectivity, and speed during operation with its optical and electronic structure. It offers 10,000 measurements per second and a high sensitivity of 1 ppm/m.

  • System Capable of Measuring Natural Gas Leaks at 40 km/h Speed
One of the greatest advantages of the OMD™ instrument is that, while operating with high sensitivity, the vehicle on which it is mounted can travel at elevated speeds, enabling the survey area to be covered much more rapidly. Furthermore, it causes no urban traffic disruption. It can measure with 1 ppm sensitivity whilst travelling at 40 km/h.

  • Compatible Design for All Vehicles
The purpose-designed OMD™ features a mounting configuration adaptable to all vehicle types. Straightforward installation and removal are enabled via the vehicle-mounted bracket system.

  • Weather-Resistant Construction
The OMD™ instrument is manufactured to withstand adverse and severe weather conditions and can operate reliably in harsh environments.

  • Advanced Connectivity Options
Direct connection to computers, GPS integration, and MDVTA* software allow real-time logged measurement data to be plotted onto Google Maps™, generating the required survey mapping. This process requires uploading .kmz files to the software.

  • Note: The instrument is compatible with MDTVA* software produced by NOVEL. This enables tracking on Google Maps. Please contact our company for detailed information.

    Measurement and Standards Approach
Instrument selection for methane/natural gas leak detection; walking survey, remote optical survey, vehicle-mounted mobile survey, gas selectivity, sensitivity, response time, and hazardous area classification must be evaluated jointly. For products utilising TDLAS or IR technology, current manufacturer performance, safety, and field operating documentation should serve as the baseline. Specific certification or regulatory compliance must be verified independently on a product/model basis.
