New Cosmos XP-704 III Gas Leak Detector

Portable refrigerant gas detector accelerating leak detection in refrigeration and HVAC applications; offering practical use with rapid response, intermittent audible/visual alarm and portable design (for numerous refrigerant gases from R-22 to HFO-1234yf)

The New Cosmos XP-704III is a portable leak detector with pumped (extractive) sampling designed for rapid detection of refrigerant gas leaks. It provides an audible/visual alarm upon leak detection; as the leak intensifies, the alarm frequency increases, switching to a continuous alarm at high levels. The XP-704III is used to detect leaks of the following refrigerant gases: R-22, R-32, R-404A, R-407C, R-600a, R-410A, R-134a, R-290, HFO-1234yf.

Product Specifications
  • Sensitivity Levels (practical site description): The XP-704III features 5 sensitivity levels. Level 5: For detecting very low concentrations (5 ppm and below; 30 ppm and below for R-134a). Level 4: Around 30 ppm (approx. 100 ppm for R-134a). Lower sensitivities (3–1) provide practical operation where environmental interference may be high and for more pronounced leaks.

  • The XP-704III is used to rapidly and easily detect HCFC and HFC gases hazardous to human health and the environment: R-22, R-32, R-404A, R-407C, R-600a, R-410A, R-134a, R-290, HFO-1234yf.

  • Alarm frequency increases as the leak is approached; provides a continuous alarm at very high levels (facilitates pinpointing leaks).

  • Automatic gas purge operates if gas remains in the instrument upon switch-off (countdown on LCD)

  • Box contents: Instrument (with soft case), DF-114 drain filter, FE-2 spare filter element, AT-2G probe, FE-106 dust filter, EG-10 check gas, hand strap, 2x AA alkaline batteries, instruction manual, etc.

  • Options (available separately): AT-6 / AT-7A gas collectors, RP-4 telescopic probe, ATS-6 gas collection set, etc.

    Gas Detection and Standards Approach

Gas detection approach: Gas type, target measuring range, alarm objective, sampling/diffusion method, sensor principle, and site atmosphere should be evaluated together. In flammable gas and explosive atmosphere applications, the EN/IEC 60079 series and relevant gas detection performance standards should be considered on an application-specific basis. These statements do not imply that the model is certified to all standards; exact compliance must be confirmed separately according to model code, target gas, and certificate version.
