Sound Examiner SE-400 Series – Class/Type 1 and Class/Type 2 Professional Sound Level Meters

The TSI Quest Sound Examiner SE-401 and SE-402 are SE-400 Series models developed for professional sound level measurement in variable noise environments. The SE-401 is intended for the Class/Type 1 accuracy class, and the SE-402 for the Class/Type 2 accuracy class. Both models support SPL and Leq/Lavg measurement, data logging, and analysis and reporting via TSI Detection Management Software (DMS).

Product Specifications

  • SE-401 – Class/Type 1: for applications requiring higher accuracy; offers remote measurement support via a removable preamplifier.

    Measurement and Standards Approach

    Although the SE-401 and SE-402 belong to the same Sound Examiner SE-400 product family, their accuracy classes differ. SE-401 is in the Class/Type 1 accuracy class, and SE-402 and SE-402-R are in the Class/Type 2 accuracy class. The instrument class required by the measurement standard, field calibration, microphone placement, frequency and time weightings, and reporting method should be evaluated jointly on a project-by-project basis.
